Here is a statement, issued through the school, in which Ole Miss baseball coach Mike Bianco talks about a positive report on the injured shoulder of first baseman Matt Snyder.
Snyder played on and off through the shoulder issue last year, then had off-season surgery. He tweaked last weekend, the second day of practice.
“We got a positive report back from Dr. James Anderson,” Bianco said on Tuesday. “Matt will be fine. He needs to rehab and strengthen his shoulder, and that will be the guide before he gets back to full speed action. He feels a lot better. Our goal is to be able to have him play in the intra-squad games the weekend of February 11.”
A healthy Snyder would be a big lift to the Rebels. He provides experience and the possibility of double-digit home runs in the middle of the order.
Snyder appeared in 42 of 58 games last year, hitting .347 with nine doubles, 12 home runs and 40 RBIs.
