Bolden, three others, suspended | Ole Miss Sports

Brandon Bolden, A.J. Hawkins, Alex Washington and Philander Moore have been suspended for the Alabama game, Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt announced today after practice.

I was not in attendance today, but Nutt told media that the suspension is for one game for “breaking team rules.” He did not get into specifics but did say that the rules broken were not about subtance abuse or criminal behavior.

Bolden looked healthier than he has been at any time since his ankle injury in the season opener when he carried six times for 43 yards and two scores at Fresno State.

In Bolden’s absence, Jeff Scott has become the feature back, and Scott had 24 carries against Fresno. He rushed for a career-high 138 yards and scored two touchdowns.

Hawkins has 16 career starts, 15 at center including all five games this year, but he was going to be replaced as the starter by Evan Swindall this week.

Alex Washington has played mostly as a reserve but started at left guard against Fresno. Patrick Junen, though, was likely headed to the first team for Alabama. He’s certainly there now, though freshman Aaron Morris will likely get some time there too.

Bolden, Washington and Hawkins are seniors. Moore is a first-year junior college transfer.
