I received several calls and text messages Saturday night asking me if Ole Miss athletics director Pete Boone was going to resign, and Twitter was buzzing with the topic as well.
There was enough smoke to wonder about the fire, so I placed a call to Pete. He returned the call this evening, leaving a message and saying, “There’s absolutely no accuracy to the question you were asking me about (my) resignation.”
The football season has gotten off to a very bad start, and Boone put himself in the center of it last Monday with his appearance at the weekly football news conference.
Earlier in the day the Forward Rebels advertisement appeared called for change in the administration.
Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt addressed the unusualness of last week on his teleconference earlier today, saying the Rebels were not distracted.
Nutt will take his team across the country to meet Fresno State this week.
