Trevor Gaskins announced on Twitter earlier today that he will play next season, his last year of collegiate eligibility, at Louisiana Tech where former Ole Miss assistant Michael White is in his first year as head coach.
Connections make the world go round.
Gaskins’ name had been mentioned as a possible transfer to North Carolina State under new coach Mark Gottfried. Again, there’s some familiarity there, Gottfried having seen
Gaskins from the standpoint of an opposing head coach, then as a TV analyst.
Anyway, I found it interesting that Gaskins, who has been critical of Oxford on Twitter, has landed at a college town in Ruston, La., that is like Oxford in some ways.
Gaskins has always been a hustler and a physical player. He wasn’t going to be a 14-point, six-assist guy at Ole Miss this season, and he won’t be at Tech. Had he remained, though, his presence at Ole Miss would have been a lift to a backcourt in transition.
