Nice honor for Ole Miss football center Daveriin Geralds here. Geralds, a senior, is a solid player that couldn’t break into the every-day lineup until last year. He’s played both defensive line and offensive line and finally found a home at center.
NEW YORK CITY – Ole Miss’ Daverin Geralds is among 44 players selected to the 2009 Spring Watch List for the Rimington Trophy, which honors college football’s top center.
A senior from Baton Rouge, Geralds returns after starting all 13 games at center in 2008 in his first full season on the offensive line. The 6-foot-2, 312-pounder earned SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week honors after helping the Rebels roll up 409 yards of offense in the victory at LSU. For the year, he helped Ole Miss rank second in the SEC in rushing (186.5 ypg) and fourth in sacks allowed (1.54 pg).
