Golson’s development | Ole Miss Sports

The Rebels will be back on the practice field in a little more than an hour beginning at 9:45.

It’s the first of a handful of two-a-day practices. I will not be in Oxford today, but we will have a practice notebook from Hayden Sowers following the afternoon workout which begins at 5:15.

Here’s our take from the print edition on cornerback Senquez Golson. From a standpoint of sheer skill and athleticism it’s not surprising to see Golson running with the first team. The surprise comes from the fact that he missed the entire spring when a new coaching staff was in place and was installing a new system. There’s a lot to learn at cornerback. You can hand a guy a playbook and say “study,” but it’s not the same as the learning that takes place when that guy is on the field.

Golson has had a good camp so far. In his own words he’s been “sloppy” with technique. He can overcome some of that with his physical gifts.
