When football practice begins Saturday building depth will be a priority at a number of positions.
One that has solid foundation to work with will be the defensive line interior.
While the Rebels are still looking for a consistent playmaker at end, the tackles have a number of possibilities. Bryon Bennett and Uriah Grant have 15 starts between them.
Grant is coming off off-season shoulder surgery but is expected to be ready. In the meantime, there’s a nice up side to Carlton Martin and Woodrow Hamilton.
Check out this piece in today’s Daily Journal on Hamilton, who benefitted in the spring when Bennett and Grant missed time with injuries. That left open the door for Hamilton, a redshirt freshman, to spend a lot of time with the first team and to learn both techniques. While DL coach Chris Kiffin works to build depth, Hamilton is hoping not to just provide depth but to break through and become a starter.
