Making progress in the home state | Ole Miss Sports

Nice hoops verbal commit pick-up late yesterday in the form of 6-8, 300-pound forward Demarco Cox of Yazoo City.

It’s the second in-state commit for a program that had no Mississippi players on its roster last season.

While the important thing is to get players no matter their geography, most successful programs are built from the inside out. MSU coach Rick Stansbury has long signed the Mississippi players who wanted to stay in-state.

Watching Andy Kennedy early I figured he’d begin to reel in some Mississippi prospects, and it looks like that’s beginning to occur.

Both Cox and Jackson point guard Dundrecous Nelson will sign in the early signing period if their commits hold.
