Some recruiting things clearing – as clear as recruiting gets – with signing day two days away.

Surfing the the recruiting sites it sppears that Florida State is very much a player in landing Noxubee County WR Vincent Sanders. Sanders was really upbeat about his visit to Ole Miss a week ago. Now he’s really upbeat about his visit to Florida State. He’ll announce Wednesday morning on WCBI.

tt never appeared the Rebels were solidly in the mix for Olive Branch OL Shon Coleman, and that hasn’t changed. Looks like Alabama for Coleman, maybe Auburn or Miami.

Co-Lin cornerback DeQuan Menzie committed to Alabama yesterday. He had been in play for Ole Miss, but the Rebels expect to get Hollywood, Fla., CB Tony Grimes, and he should be able to help them at that position.

In other news …

Another home loss for the Rebels, who were exploited in the post in the absence of freshman Reginald Buckner. They absolutely could not stop Arkansas big men Mike Washington and Marshawn Powell. Had no answer. The answer was sitting on the bench with his sprained ankle in a boot. Buckner is day to day as the Rebels go to Kentucky Tueday.

A loss to South Carolina hasn’t shaken Kentucky’s status as one of the top four teams in the country. …

Talked to Houston Nutt a little bit at the basketball game last night. He said he now expects to name an offensive coordinator either today or Thursday, probably not Tuesday or Wednesday. The leading candidates are still Dave Rader, Steve Kragthorpe and Patrick Nix.
