Question of the Day: Does Liggins’ location matter? | Ole Miss Sports

What do you make of the Liggins announcement location?

Lafayette County QB Jeremy Liggins, rated by Rivals.com as a three-star prospect and its No. 8 player in Mississippi, says he will announce his college choice on Jan. 30, two days before Signing Day, on the Square in Oxford.

In the world of speculation that is recruiting, what do you read into that?
Does announcing at an Oxford landmark mean good news for Ole Miss? I’ve heard some who believe it does.

Some believe otherwise. One Ole Miss fan told me the Square transcends Ole Miss. It’s Oxford, and Liggins, from Lafayette County, should be able to announce for whomever he chooses in that place.

An Ole Miss fan told me recently that he believes MSU coach Dan Mullen “has enough WWF in him” to try and orchestrate a Mississippi State announcement in the heart of Oxford. It would delight Mullen, said the fan.

A non-Ole Miss Liggins announcement could also be for LSU with whom Rivals speculates a mutual interest.

What’s your opinion? Does the location of the announcement matter?
