Snyder says he’ll return for senior year | Ole Miss Sports

From the mother ship, our brief on Matt Snyder’s return. You don’t expect an underclassmen taken in the 44th round of the draft to leave, but you never know. Snyder has receovered from his early summer injury and is really playing well right now. When Mike Bianco and I talked yesterday, he said Snyder had hit six home runs in his last nine games and was hitting around .390.

Designated hitter Matt Snyder is returning for his senior season with the Ole Miss baseball team, Rebels coach Mike Bianco announced Tuesday.
Snyder was drafted in the 44th round by Washington in June.

“The Rebels just got a lot better,” Bianco said on Twitter.

Snyder hit .301 last year and led the team in home runs with nine and in RBIs with 39.

He appeared in all 55 games, drawing 51 starts. Snyder had shoulder surgery following the 2010 season. He was injured this summer playing in his native Virginia when he was hit in the face with a fastball while batting.

Snyder has rebounded from the summer injury and has hit six home runs in his last nine games, Bianco said.
