The pitching matchup for Ole Miss and Arkansas State tonight will be a couple of right-handers.
The Rebels will start freshman Josh Laxer against Arkansas State. He was strong in his last start, going seven innings against Southern Miss, but was not able to follow that up with a successful relief outing against LSU.
He did not pitch against Tennessee this weekend.
Through 24 innings of work Laxer has a 5.25 ERA with 14 strikeouts and seven walks. He’s 4-0.
Arkansas State’s Cody Woodhouse is 1-2 with a 5.09 ERA in 23 innings. He’s struck out 10 and walked 10. Opponents are hitting .303 against him.
The Red Wolves are 28-21 and dropped a two games to Floria International over the weekend to fall into second place in the Sun Belt.
Claude Johnson leads a team hitting .274 with his own .355 average.
First pitch in Jonesboro is 6:30, and it will be the final non-conference game for Ole Miss. The Rebels defeated the Red Wolves 8-1 in Oxford in February.
