COLUMBUS, Miss. (AP) — The Bass Pro Shop’s Crappie Master’s All-American Tournament Trail will come to Columbus in 2012.

The Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau has provided $71,000 for the event.

The Commercial Dispatch reports fishermen will participate in a qualifying tournament in Columbus from March 2-3, 2012. The tournament will be hosted from Sept. 25-29, 2012.

CVB interim director Nancy Carpenter says tournament officials will be in Columbus several times throughout the year to see how the fishing is in Columbus and to shoot TV commercials and take photos for national fishing magazines.

Grenada Lake hosted a Bass Pro tournament in April.
