Croom stays with Rams, won't go to Alabama

Sylvester Croom is sticking with the NFL.
The former Mississippi State head coach will remain as running backs coach with the St. Louis Rams, after talking with his alma mater, Alabama, about a position there.
Croom and Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban had a meeting last weekend in Tuscaloosa, Croom’s home town.
“It was a very intriguing opportunity that Coach Saban and I discussed,” Croom told The Tuscaloosa News. “My visit was more of a get-to-know-you with Coach Saban and the staff. It was a great visit. I really enjoyed it.”
Saban is looking to fill a spot after recruiting coordinator Curt Cignetti left to become head coach at Indiana University-Pennsylvania. Cignetti also coached the Tide’s receivers.
Croom, 56, a longtime NFL assistant, joined the Rams staff in 2009. St. Louis ranked 25th in the NFL in rushing last season.
