The BNA Bank Cotton States Baseball League, a college wooden bat league which opened a North Division this season at New Albany, is rethinking its midweek schedule.
A doubleheader at the Sportsplex between the Golden Triangle Jets and North Delta Dealers ended about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, prompting league officials to ponder changes to its schedule, which included mid-week doubleheaders typically starting at 6 p.m.
“I think we are all in agreement when we say we have to get away from the mid-week doubleheaders,” North Division president Clark Richey said. “The games are consistently running longer than expected. We think the doubleheaders on week nights are simply putting too much of a hardship on players and parents, and we are going to make some immediate adjustments.”
The league will eliminate mid-week doubleheaders from the schedule by the end of this week, according to a statement on its Web site, and modify weekend schedules to absord the games.
A new schedule for the remainder of the season will be made later this week.
