Daniels wins as THS teams finish second in Clinton run

CLINTON – Tupelo freshman Christina Daniels covered the 4K course in 15 minute, 17 seconds on Saturday to win the Division I event at the Mississippi College Invitational.
Daniels winning time bested the 15:34 second place of Jade Kindsvater of Ocean Springs, with Rebecca Buteau of Madison Central third in 15:35 and Kate Mattox of Starkville fourth in 15:36.
The Tupelo girls team also showed strong with a second place with 121 points. Dominican (La.) was first with 76, while Madison Central was third with 126. Pontotoc was fifth, Saltillo eighth and Starkville ninth.
In Division I boys team scoring, Tupelo was again a solid second with 68 points, trailing St. Paul’s (La.), which won with a 37. West Monroe (La.) was third in 109, with Starkville fourth, Pontotoc sixth and Saltillo 10th.
