Delta State is two wins from a return trip to the NCAA Division II football championship game, starting with today’s home date against North Greenville.
Kickoff in Cleveland is set for 1 p.m.
The eighth-ranked Statesmen (10-2) whipped North Alabama 42-14 last weekend, while North Greenville’s 20thranked Crusaders defeated Mars Hill 58-32.
It’s the first meeting between DSU and North Greenville, which is on a nine-game winning streak.
Several Northeast Mississippi players have key roles for the Statesmen. Senior cornerback Dominique Davenport (Baldwyn) has 13 career interceptions, while senior tight end Jacob Sesma (Walnut) and sophomore RB Richard Freelon (Bruce) each scored last weekend against UNA.
Today’s winner plays the Northwest Missouri State-Pittsburg State next weekend in a D-II semifinal.
