District I schools propose state tourney changes

Members of the Mississippi High School Activities Association’s District 1 voted in favor of proposed legislation for changes in the state basketball tournament to be submitted at the November meeting of the organization’s legislative committee.
The proposal, which was voted down last spring at the legislative level, is for eight teams to advance to the state tournament instead of four.
Baldwyn boys basketball coach Jason McKay presented the proposal at Wednesday’s summer district meeting at ICC’s Belden Center.
