Mississippi State senior tailback Anthony Dixon has pleaded guilty to DUI first offense and will pay a $500 fine.
His attorney, Jay Perry, entered the plea on Dixon’s behalf on Thursday. Dixon also faced two other charges stemming from his July 18 arrest in Starkville, but a driving without insurance charge was dismissed, and a careless driving charge was retired.
“Anthony is an outstanding young man that made a mistake,” Perry said. “He understands he is a role model to a lot of people. That is a huge reason why he wanted to accept responsibility and quickly put this behind him.”
In a statement, coach Dan Mullen said, “While the consequences for his actions from a legal standpoint have been met, he still has obligations to the Mississippi State football team that we will handle inside the football program.”
