Eighth-Inning rally helps Lambuth knock off BMC

By Blue Mountain College

NEW ALBANY – Jake Whitaker’s run-scoring double in the eighth inning here Tuesday gave Lambuth University a 4-3 NAIA win over Blue Mountain College – the Toppers’ third straight one-run loss.

BMC, 8-14, battled back from a 3-1 deficit to tie the game behind the hitting of Channing Walker, Hunter Mize and Corey Adams, but Whitaker drove in Josh Taylor with the winning run to improve the Eagles to 5-16. Tyler Krough picked up the win for Lambuth.

Walker had three hits for the Toppers, including a double, and Mize and Adams also had two hits each and a double apiece. Jon Paul Barber, who relieved Zane Treadaway in the seventh inning, suffered the loss.

BMC travels to Auburn-Montgomery today for a 3 p.m. doubleheader, then return home to face defending NAIA and TranSouth champion Cumberland University at 6 p.m. Friday and a twin bill at noon Saturday.
