Ex-ICC standout Jennings gets in the swing for Rays

We’ve heard experts say for quite a while that Desmond Jennings, the former two-sport standout at ICC, was going to be a big-league star.
Jennings is starting to pay off on that promise. He went 4 for 5 on Sunday with two home runs as the Tampa Bay Rays hammered the Toronto Blue Jays 12-0.
“It might be the first time I’ve ever homered twice in a game at any level,” Jennings told MLB.com after his career-best four-hit effort. “I felt good.”
Jennings homered on the first pitch of the game. “It’s an early run, it gets the team up,” Jennings said. “I wasn’t trying to hit a home run but I was just wanted to hit something hard.”
He finished with three RBIs, scored three runs and added a steal, his 14th of the season.
Jennings is hitting .354 for the season with eight homers.
At ICC, he was an outstanding receiver in football but was a 10th-round pick by the Jays in the 2006 amateur draft.
