JACKSON — Former NBA player Justin Reed is one of two men charged with possession of more than 2.2 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop in Jackson.
Police Department spokeswoman Colendula Green says Reed and Mario Jointer were charged Monday with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. They were released Tuesday on $10,000 bonds each. Green did not know if they had attorneys.
Reed played at Mississippi and spent four years in the NBA. Jointer played at South Alabama and several years overseas.
Green says the car Reed was driving was stopped in south Jackson because of a seat belt violation. She says Jointer ran from the car but was caught with a bag of marijuana.
Green says officers found over $25,000 in cash in the car.
