STARKVILLE – Mark Goforths single drove in Connor Powers in the 12th inning to give Mississippi State a 6-5 win over South Carolina Saturday, setting up a rubber match on Sunday.

Mississippi State (14-5, 3-2 Southeastern Conference) took a 5-3 lead with a two-run fifth inning, but South Carolina (20-4, 3-2 SEC) tied it with two runs in the top of the sixth.

There was a five-inning scoring drought for both teams until Goforth’s RBI won it for the Bulldogs.

Ole Miss 3, Alabama 2, 11 innings
OXFORD – Cody Overback’s single sent Justin Henry home for the winning run in Mississippi’s 3-2 win over Alabama Saturday.

Henry singled to lead off the 11th inning, took third on Zach Cozart’s double to left center and then scored on Overbeck’s single through the left side of the infield.

Cody Satterwhite got the victory in relief for the Rebels (17-8, 2-3 Southeastern Conference), pitching two scoreless innings. Ole Miss sophomore Lance Lynn pitched another gem for the Rebels, limiting Alabama to two runs on seven hits over nine innings.

A week earlier, Lynn allowed only one hit over eight innings in a 6-1 victory over Vanderbilt.
The victory evened the weekend series at one apiece going in to Sunday’s 1:30 p.m. rubber match. Alabama dropped to 17-9 and 3-2 in the SEC.
