BOONEVILLE – Northeast Mississippi Community College head baseball coach Kent Farris continues to add to his 2010-11 recuriting class.
Farris inked Pontotoc High School standout Jon Michael Hannon, an outfielder, who helped lead the Warriors to a 24-7 record during the 2009-10 season on Monday, June 28.
Hannon also helped lead Pontotoc to the Mississippi High School Activities Association’s (MHSAA) Class 4A second round before being knocked out by Lewisburg in a best-of-three series 7-6 in an epic 12-inning battle in game three.
Hannon batted .447 for the Warriors while appearing in all of Pontotoc’s 31 games on the year. The Pontotoc senior also pieced together a .500 on base percentage and a .596 slugging percentage for the Warriors during his final year.
Hannon only struck out 12 times in 128 plate appearances while fanning 34 during his time on the mound for the Warriors. Hannon finished the season perfect on the mound with a 3-0 mark for the Warriors and held opponents to a .120 batting average.
During the 2009-10 season, Hannon went 51-for-114 at the plate while scoring 35 runs for the Warriors. Hannon also helped with the Warrior power at the plate blasting eight doubles and three home runs during his final year at Pontotoc.
Hannon used his speed on the bases as well picking up seven stolen bases in eight chances for the Warriors.
Currently, Hannon is manning the outfield for the Pontotoc Senior Legion team during the 2010 summer.
