Fast-Pitch playoffs: Lady Panthers still alive, Lady Tigers fall short

WEST UNION–The Pine Grove Lady Panthers remained the lone county team in the fast-pitch softball playoffs.

After a 5-1 setback in game one of their best of three series against the West Union Eagles, the Lady Panthers bounced back to edge the Eagles 7-5. The split set up a deciding game three scheduled for Tuesday night at Pine Grove.

HOUSTON–The Ripley Lady Tigers (10-13) fell short in their bid to advance to the third round for the first time in school history.

The team lost game one of their best of three series to the Houston Hilltoppers 2-1 before falling in game two by a score of 4-0. However, the Lady Tigers did make history a week ago by winning their first round playoff series over Senatobia. It was the Lady Tigers’ second trip to the playoffs.
