BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Five athletes from Mississippi State secured berths in the NCAA Championships on Friday and two others advanced to today’s final round at the NCAA East Region Preliminary.
Lady Bulldog Jessica Merriweather finished in 11th place in the long jump to earn a trip to Des Moines, Iowa for the NCAA nationals.
Jody-Ann Muir placed fifth in the 400-meter dash, while Richesa McCaleb finished 12th in the 100m dash.
The Bulldogs know they will have two athletes representing them in the 400m dash in Iowa. Tavaris Tate ran a 46.19 to advance and finish just ahead of teammate and fellow qualifier James Harris at 46.40.
Garren Hendricks will compete in today’s quarterfinals in the 200m dash, while Racquel Farquharson will challenge in the 100m hurdles.
