With two games remaining in the regular season, the El Paso (Texas) Generals – coached by the former staff of the now-defunct Mississippi Mudcats – have clinched a playoff berth in the Indoor Football League.
The Generals take a 10-2 record into tonight’s regular-season home finale with the Rochester Raiders (8-4).
Tommy Jones, the former MudCats quarterback, leads the IFL in passing (228.9 yards per game) with 58 touchdowns against 18 interceptions. The Generals are second in the 19-team league in scoring, averaging 56.5 points per game.
Brian Brents, who left the Tupelo-based MudCats near the end of their second and final season in 2008, now has a 34-7 record as a head coach.
