Former Saltillo High and ICC hall of fame player/coach Roy Cresap has field named after him

Former ICC hall of fame player/coach Roy Cresap last week had Itawamba Community College’s baseball field re-named in his honor to Roy Cresap Field.

During his 16.5 seasons as head baseball coach at Itawamba Community College, Roy Cresap of Fulton earned 450 wins, qualified for nine Region 23 tournaments and coached four All-Star games.

He also earned one state championship, coached two junior college All-Americans and was selected 12 times as chairman of the Mississippi Junior College Baseball Coaches Association. His honors also include Mississippi Junior College Athletic Association Coach of the Year and inductee into the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges Hall of Fame in 2011 and ICC¹s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004. He attended ICC from 1965-67, where he played basketball and baseball.

From 1982-98, he served as director of Student Housing, assistant football coach, head baseball coach and athletic director at ICC.
