Former star receiver Harlon Hill dies at 80

Harlon Hill, a former star NFL receiver whose name adorns the NCAA Division II player of the year trophy, died Thursday in Florence, Ala., at age 80.
Hill, who attended University of North Alabama, was the NFL rookie of the year in 1954 after being drafted in the 15th round by the Chicago Bears.
He was the NFL’s most valuable player in 1955.
Winners of the Harlon Hill Trophy include UNA quarterback Will Hall, from Amory, in 2003.
