Mississippi State sophomore Chad Ramey finished in a tie for seventh as the SEC men’s golf championship tournament wrapped up at St. Simons Island, Ga.
Ramey, from Fulton, shot a 2-over 72 on Sunday to finish at 1-under 209. It’s the best finish for a MSU golfer since Carlos Sainz Jr. was the runner-up in 2009.
In his final round, Ramey had two birdies and four bogeys.
MSU senior Alex Rowland, from Houston, shot a 75 on Sunday and finished in a tie for 31st at 7-over 217.
Ole Miss was led by Blake Morris, who tied for 11th at 1-over 211. Teammate Billy Brozovich tied for 15th at 3-over 213.
Alabama freshman Justin Thomas won with a 7-under 208. He was the only golfer under par for all three rounds.
Alabama (828) had its worst round of the weekend – 2-over – but easily held off Auburn (834). Ole Miss (857) finished sixth and Mississippi State (879) was 12th.
