Fulton's Ramey leads State Farm Junior Amateur

GULFPORT – Fulton’s Chad Ramey opened his defense of the State Farm Boys’ Junior Amateur on Monday by shooting a 5-under 67 for a five-stroke lead over Fletcher Johnson of Belden in the age 16-18 division. Ramey had five birdies on the back nine.
Johnson, a rising senior at Tupelo High School, recently won the State Am title. He’s along in second place after an opening-round 72.
Noah West (75) of Belden was tied for fifth and Clif Hanna of Pontotoc and Corbin May of Saltillo were tied for 10th at 78.
In the 14-15 division, Hayden Buckley of Belden shot a 73 for a three-stroke lead. Tucker Jenkins (77) was in a tie for third and Austin Rose (76) of Tupelo was tied for sixth.
In the 12-13 division, Blake Harris (82) of Tupelo was third, Kirk Reeder (87) of Tupelo sixth and Noah Hill (67) of Calhoun City seventh.
The 54-hole tournament continues today.
