ABERDEEN – Aberdeen boys basketball coach Cornelius Gilleylen has been forced to resign from his position, sources tell the Journal.

“That’s a personnel matter. I can’t go into any kind of specifics,” said Aberdeen School District conservator Mac Curlee.

Legendary coach Roy Hazzle was forced out a year earlier. Gilleylen now sees the same fate from the school still under state takeover despite going 24-8 and coming within a point of reaching the Class 3A state tournament.

More information as it becomes available.
