DECATUR – Freshman quarterback Andrew Goodman threw for 358 yards and five touchdowns in his Itawamba Community College debut as the Indians thumped East Central 35-13 on Saturday.
The Indians rolled up 532 yards of total offense in the win.
“I thought we came out really focused,” ICC head football coach Jon Williams said. “We wanted to set the tone early and I felt our offense was able to control the pace of the game all day to keep East Central on their heels defensively.”
Goodman, a native of Charlotte, N.C., connected on 29 of 37 attempts for Itawamba.
“Credit all of our offensive guys for such a good effort in sloppy conditions,” said Williams. “The line gave us time to throw and created lanes for our running backs and the receivers did a great job of getting big time yards after the catch.”
Pargo hauled in six catches for 108 yards and three touchdowns while Howard added 98 yards and a score on three catches.
Six different Indians combined for 174 yards rushing with Courtney Gladney (Olive Branch) leading the way with 48 yards on eight carries.
ICC will host Southwest (0-0, 0-0) on Thursday at 7 p.m.
