Tupelo’s Riggs signs with Delta State softball
– Tupelo High School softball player Anna Wesleigh Riggs signed a national letter of intent Wednesday with Delta State University.
A Daily Journal All-Area selection in fastpitch, Riggs played pitcher and shortstop for the Lady Wave’s this spring. She posted an 8-3 pitching record with one save, 55 strikeouts and a 1.28 ERA. She batted .321 with seven doubles.
DSU signed her as a utility player.
“I like playing the infield, but I’ll try anything,” said Riggs, who also played catcher, third baseman and in the outfield during her six seasons as a starter. “I think playing all the positions in high school will help me when I go to college.”
