High School Football Briefing August 25, 2012

• Kedrick Storey of the Southern Sentinel reports that Falkner’s final touchdown in Thursday night’s 40-7 win over Walnut included a drive with a fifth down.

Falkner failed on a fourth and 3, but the down marker never changed after a 3rd and 6 play. The Eagles converted a fourth and 1 – actually fifth and 1 – and scored two plays later.

• If you didn’t see the video of a skunk crashing the party at Thursday night’s Booneville-Baldwyn game, Brandon Speck has posted the video on our high school blog, nemisspreps.wordpress.com.

• Benton County defeated the Tish County JV 22-0 on Thursday in its first outing of the season. The Buccaneers visit Falkner on Friday.

• Parker Dunaway of Heritage Academy opened Friday’s win over Starkville Academy with a 85-yard interception return. It’s the second week in a row he’s done that on an opponent’s first series.
