In a Thursday night game seen on regional TV, host Petal (5-1) – No. 5 in the AP’s overall rankings – pinned a 24-21 loss on eighthranked Oak Grove (5-1).

Petal faced a fourth-and-17 play with 1:16 left on the Oak Grove 20.
QB Larson Barkum fielded a low snap and completed a TD pass to Jamarcus Revies, capping a decisive 97-yard drive.

• For a second week in a row, the state’s top-ranked team has lost. Olive Branch (5-1) saw its MHSAA-best 20-game winning streak ended with a 28-14 homefield loss to South Panola (4-2).

• Jackson Prep (7-0) dealt a 24-7 loss to Presbyterian Christian in a meeting of two of state’s top-ranked Academy AAA teams.
