IAHS stuns West Lauderdale

Itawamba AHS senior Dylan Taylor handcuffed West Lauderdale on three hits and the Indians won 1-0 on Friday night in Fulton, sending the Class 4A series to a third game.

It was only the second loss of the season for West Lauderdale (26-2), which hosts Game 3 today at 6 p.m.

Itawamba AHS improved to 19-11.

“We talked to the kids all afternoon, telling them ‘Let’s try to get it to one more game,’ ” IAHS coach Brian Long said. “Dylan Taylor took the ball and took over.”

Logan Brown’s two-out hit in the fourth scored the only run.

West Lauderdale made four errors and failed to advance a runner past second. Taylor (9-1) struck out three and hit two.


Corinth 6, Lafayette 5: The Warriors needed nine innings to force a Game 3 tonight at Lafayette in a 4A series.

East Union 8, East Webster 4: The Urchins, shut out 10-0 on Thursday, improved to 20-6 and evened up their 2A series. Game 3 is today at Maben.

Oxford 15, Lewisburg 1: The Chargers evened the 5A series but hit the road for Game 3.
