FULTON – Itawamba Community College head baseball coach Rick Collier announced right-handed pitcher Luke Hargett has signed a National Letter of Intent with the Mississippi College baseball program.
“I’m excited I get to continue playing baseball,” said Hargett. “”It was a fun two years (at ICC) and I’m going to use the things I’ve learned and make the next two years just as good.”
The Fulton native was a fixture of the Indians’ starting rotation for two seasons, finishing his career with seven wins, two saves, 62 strikeouts and a 4.18 ERA in over 100 innings pitched.
“Luke is a hard worker and a hard nose kid,” said Collier. “He really gets after it every time he steps on the field and I’m proud he’s getting to play some more baseball because he’s won some big games and came up big for us in a lot of key situations over his career.”
Hargett earned Mississippi Association of Community and Junior College All-State Academic honors this past season while being named to the MACJC All-State second team.
