FULTON, MS – ICC head softball coach Andy Kirk announced the 2013 Fall Schedule for the Lady Indians on Monday.
“We really stepped up our fall schedule this season,” said Kirk. “We have a lot of new faces coming in this season and we wanted them to be able to see what it takes to be successful on this level each time they take the field.”
The Lady Indians will play seven fall dates starting with an intrasquad game at South Pontotoc High School (Sept 23) and concluding with a doubleheader against the Mississippi State University softball team (Oct 20).
ICC will host a 10-inning intrasquad game (Sept 28) as part of the football Homecoming festivities and will have a parents’ fellowship and alumni reunion following the game.
“We hope this becomes a long-running tradition for the softball program,” Kirk said. “We have a very proud tradition and this will be a way for the parents, current players, alumni, and former coaches to come back to celebrate the program.”
The Lady Indians will host another intrasquad game at Hamilton High School (Oct 2) before traveling to Delta State University (Oct 5) for a doubleheader against the Lady Statesmen and Shelton State Community College and will host two more intrasquad games at Tupelo High School (Oct 9) and Nettleton High School (Oct 10).
Last season, ICC finished 31-15-1 en route to winning their second-straight MACJC North Division championship and advancing to the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament.
