FULTON – Itawamba Community College Athletic Director Carrie Ball-Williamson has released the schedules for the 2012 ICC baseball and softball spring break tournaments.
The ICC High School Baseball Challenge will feature some of the top area high school baseball teams from Amory, Hamilton, Houston, Itawamba AHS, Mantachie, North Pontotoc, Shannon and South Pontotoc in the two-day event starting with three games on Monday, March 12 and concluding with four games on Tuesday, March 13.
“This is always one of the top spring break events in the area,” said ICC skipper Rick Collier. “Tons of family and scouts turnout for the games and we are looking forward to hosting all these great athletes and hopefully some of them wearing the red and blue in the next few years.”
Hamilton and South Pontotoc will kickoff the event at 2:00 on Monday with North Pontotoc taking on the Lions at 4:30 and Itawamba AHS and Mantachie closing Day One at 7:00 p.m. Day Two will open with South Pontotoc vs North Pontotoc at 12:00 and Houston and South Pontotoc will follow at 2:30. Hamilton and Itawamba AHS will square off at 5:00 with Mantachie and Shannon closing out the event at 7:30 p.m.
Individual day passes will be available at the gate, $5 per adult and $2 per child. Tournament t-shirts will be available for purchase throughout the event and pre-orders are welcomed by calling the baseball office at 662-862-8118.
The fifth annual ICC Lady Indians High School Fast Pitch Tournament will also be Monday and Tuesday with teams from Mississippi and Alabama scheduled to participate in this year’s event.
Top North Mississippi programs such as Amory, Hatley, Hamilton, Mooreville and Saltillo will mix with Hamilton High School in Alabama with four games scheduled for Monday and four schedule for Tuesday, each day’s event run from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
“We are excited to be able to have all these players and coaches coming on campus,” said first-year ICC head coach Andy Kirk. “This year’s lineup looks to be an extremely competitive and should be a couple of days of top-notch softball.”
Hamilton (MS) and Amory will open the first day at noon with Hamilton (MS) and Hatley to follow at 2:00. Saltillo and Amory will take the diamond at 4:00 and Mooreville and Hamilton (AL) will close out the day at 6:00 p.m. Hatley and Saltillo will open the final day at noon with Mantachie and Hatley to follow at 2:00. Mantachie and Saltillo will play at 4:00 with Hamilton (AL) and Hatley will play the final game starting at 6:00 p.m.
