SCOOBA – The Itawamba Community College women’s basketball team’s reward for defeating Southwest Community College on Tuesday is a matchup with the country’s third-ranked team, Copiah-Lincoln, today in the MACJC State Tournament semifinals.
The Lady Indians played well on Tuesday, highlighted by Calhoun City native Ebony Williams’ three 3-pointers and team-high 15 points, as they won by 12, 69-57. Birdie Bowens (13), Lori Crudup (12) and Anna Dill (12) also reached double figures for the 18-8 Lady Indians.
ICC was 9 of 10 on free throws down the stretch.
“This is a big win for our program,” said ICC coach Nanci Gray.
An even bigger win for ICC would be to knock off undefeated Co-Lin (24-0) today at East Mississippi Community College. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
The ICC men also face a big challenge today when they take on a Pearl River team that has won 15 games in a row. The men’s semifinal will tip off at 2 p.m. today at EMCC.
