FULTON, – Itawamba Community College head men’s basketball coach Marty Cooper announced two signings on Wednesday as Akeem Caddell (Horn Lake HS) signed with Blue Mountain College and Parris Jeans (Mooreville HS) signed to join next season’s squad at ICC.
Caddell, a 6-foot-5 forward, averaged 9.9 points and 6.6 rebounds per game while shooting 63-percent from the floor as a sophomore to help the Indians advance to the semifinals of the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament.
“I’m sure Akeem will be able to step right in at the post position next season,” said Cooper. “He’s a real tough and physical kid that has really meant a lot to our program over the past two years.”
Shortly after Caddell signed with the Toppers, Coach Cooper announced Mooreville’s Parris Jeans signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball for the Indians next season.
The 6-foot-3, 230 lb forward averaged 15.8 points and 9.7 rebounds per game for Coach Jeff Talley as the Troopers finished 19-11 before being eliminated from postseason play by the eventual MHSAA Class 3A state champions last season.
“Parris is a big kid and phenomenal athlete,” said Cooper. “We’re hoping his strength and athletic ability will bring a physical presence that you need to be successful on this level of play.”
