FULTON – Off to its best start in school history, Itawamba Community College has moved up to No. 4 in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) football poll.
“I’m proud for the guys for being honored with this ranking,” said ICC head coach Jon Williams. “It’s a testimony of all the hard work that has not only gone into this season, but also previous seasons that helped lay the ground work for us to be a successful football program.”
The Indians, who were previously ranked No. 7, are 5-0 for the first time in school history after their 27-21 win over Northwest Mississippi on Saturday.
ICC (3-0 MACJC North Division) is among three MACJC schools in the top five, with East Mississippi (5-0, 2-0 North) moving up a spot to No. 2 and Jones County (5-0, 3-0 South) jumping from ninth to third after its 50-47 win over Copiah-Lincoln (4-1, 2-1 MACJC South).
The Indians will be step out of division for a top-10 clash as they travel to Copiah-Lincoln on Thursday. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m., and the game can be heard on WAFM 95.7 FM (Amory) and watched live on LetsGoICC.com starting at 6:40 with the pregame show.
