FULTON – Itawamba Community College head baseball coach Rick Collier has released the Indians’ schedule for the upcoming 2011 baseball season.
The defending MACJC North Division champions will host a doubleheader against Southwest Tennessee Community College on February 12 to open the 2011 season before trading back-to-back home-and-away series with Bevill-Fayette and John C Calhoun.
“We open up with a tough schedule,” said Collier. “Bevill-Fayette is always a contender in Alabama and Southwest Tennessee and (John C) Calhoun have really been tough the past few seasons. The opening part of the season is going to be tough, but we are ready for the challenge.”
The Indians will open North Division play against East Mississippi Community College on March 9 and will close the regular season with a road trip to Senatobia against Northwest Community College.
“We could be starting six or seven freshman this season so we are really going to count on our sophomores to bring them along,” Collier said about his 2011 team. “You don’t know what you got because we didn’t get to throw them to the fire in the fall, but everyone is going to have to step up early for us.”
