FULTON – Itawamba Community College will host a doubleheader against John C Calhoun Community College to open the 2012 baseball season on Saturday.

“We are excited to get the season started,” said ICC baseball coach Rick Collier. “We brought in a lot of solid players with last year’s signing class and have a whole bunch of talented guys coming back from last season that should make for what we feel like is going to be a pretty special season.”

Opening pitch in Game 1 is slated for 1:00 p.m. with the second game of the twin bill to follow shortly thereafter.

“Calhoun is a tough team to start the season against.” Collier said about the opening doubleheader. “They have a program that is rich in tradition and is always solid from top to bottom of their lineup.”

ICC finished 25-19 and second place in the MACJC North before being eliminated by South Division champion Gulf Coast last season.
