ICC shortstop picks up historic honors

FULTON – ICC shortstop CeCee Austin has been named to the NCJAA Softball All-American third team. She’s the first Lady Indian softball player in the program’s ten-year history to earn All-American honors.
The South Pontotoc native finished the season tied for 15th in the nation with 12 home runs while batting .452 with a .771 slugging and .494 on-base percentage. She had 75 hits, 15 doubles, one triple with 45 RBI, 47 runs scored, and six stolen bases.
“It feels amazing, I really can’t describe how it feels,” Austin said of her latest honor. “I just wanted to work hard and give it my all every time I stepped on the field.”
Over her career, the Belhaven signee had 143 hits, 29 doubles, four triples, 27 home runs, 109 RBI, and 105 runs scored for the Lady Indians.
Austin was also the 2010 North Division Most Valuable Player, and she was named to the MACJC All-State and All-North Division teams in 2009 and 2010.
The Lady Indians complied a school-record 56 wins in Austin’s two seasons at ICC and set a school record for most wins in a season with 30 in 2009.
