ICC sweeps team titles at MACJC state tennis

Itawamba Community College, coached by Paul Johnson, won the MACJC men’s and women’s state tennis championships on Saturday at Clinton.
The ICC men picked up victories in four singles and two doubles finals to outpoint runnerup Jones 22-16.
The state women’s title was decided on a tiebreaker, as ICC and Gulf Coast tied at 14. The Lady Indians won on the strength of putting more players into the finals, including two state champs.
The ICC men’s singles winners: Ethan Wilkinson (No. 1), Alex Thomas (No. 4), Luke Wilson (No. 5) and Jeff Hamm (No. 6). The Indians’ winners in doubles: Wilkinson and Leo Prudencio (No. 1) and Thomas-Wilson.
The ICC’s women’s singles winners: Summer Burnett (No. 4) and Mandy Collins (No. 5).
Both teams will compete in the Region 23 championships on Tuesday.
MACJC golf: The NJCAA Region 23 Championship gets started today at 1:30 p.m. Riverbirch G.C. in Amory.
