ICC women advance to semis at region tourney

CLINTON – Ty-Nita Baker (Houston) scored 20 points to lead the Itawamba Community College Lady Indians to a 70-51 victory against
Northwest on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Region XXIII tournament.
Itawamba (17-9) faces Copiah-Lincoln, which defeated Meridian 62-52, in today’s semifinals at 8 p.m. Copiah-Lincoln eliminated the Lady Indians in the MACJC state tournament semis last week.
ICC used a 32-9 run in the first half to claim a 40-17 lead at halftime against Northwest, which swept the regular season series from the Lady Indians.
Jasmine Hampton (Bruce) scored 16 points for ICC, while Ayanna Lynn added 12.
Gulf Coast 68, NECC 60, OT: Angelia Allen (Belmont) led Northeast with
24 points. The Lady Tigers ended their season with a 14-12 record.
