Jackson State to again visit Starkville in '12

Mississippi State’s football team will open the 2012 season against Jackson State, athletics director Greg Byrne announced Thursday.
Byrne, in his weekly blog, said a contract had been finalized this week, and the game will be played in Starkville on Sept. 1. MSU’s 2012 non-conference schedule is now set, with other games scheduled against Troy (Sept. 8), Louisiana Tech (Sept. 15) and South Alabama (Sept. 22).
MSU beat Jackson State 45-7 to open the 2009 season. It marked the first meeting between the schools as well as the first football game between one of Mississippi’s Division I schools and an in-state historically black college.
