Jarred Thweatt of Germntown, Tenn., beat the heat and a field of about 100 finishers on Saturday morning in the King of the Hill Triathlon at Tombigbee State Park.
Thweatt won in 1:27:13.88, with Plantersville’s Clary Curtis second in 1:27:38.51 and Saltillo’s Aaron Ford third in 1:28:02.46.
Debbie Carey of Germantown, Tenn., won the women’s division in 1:34:23.93, with Sheryl Chatfield of Oxford second in 1:39:49.64.
Race organizers adjusted the course slightly because of the heat. The half-mile swim and 20-mile bike ride was followed by a run that was cut down to 3.3 miles from a planned 3.6.
Thweatt had the third-fastest time in the swim (12:44), the best time on the bike (50:41) and the 14th best time in the run (22:32).
